Our 26 year History
Early in 2016 Hazle Ceramics reaches 26 years old.
Hazle Ceramics was formed early in 1990, by Hazle Boyles who, inspired by the architecture and bustle of the British High Street, created and produced an award winning range of low relief ceramics, called ‘A Nation of Shopkeepers’ which protrays different periods of British Architecture and History: Edwardian, Victorian, Georgian, Elizabethan and Tudor.
During the following years, the company expanded, developing two further ranges of collectable ceramics, The Heritage Collection depicting well known or interesting London Buildings, and the Beside the Sea range, a collection of delightful seaside buildings that evoke those childhood holiday memories. As the company grew Hazle selected and employed a band of talented artists, some of whom you will still meet in our workshop today.
Hazle, as an ex-teacher, always wanted her business to be able to encourage creativity in children of all ages, as well as adults, and so soon added extra workshop space to offer pottery painting to both adults and children in the setting of a professional ceramic studio.
In 2004, with the company’s move to Barleyland Craft Village, and a new bright and welcoming studio, Hazle’s Pottery Barn was born, and the rest, as they say, is history!
Today, nearly 25 years from the foundation of the company, our ceramics are sold worldwide to a large and enthusiatic group of collectors, and the Pottery Barn is the place to be for all creative adults and kids!
